Mick first started baling straw in 1988 and purchased his first Hesston 4900 baler in 1989. From thereon he purchased further 4900 balers, ran a couple of mini hesston balers in the 90’s baling for the pig industry. We ran a 4×3 baler when they first came out, but found we were too early as we could not find customers for them.
For the last 20 years we have just run 4×4 Hesston balers and Heath Superchasers. We have supplied straw into the power stations, but our supply now is into biomass boilers and lilvestock farmers. The straw is checked for moisture, prior to baling, but we do have the facilities for drying straw to get into spec for farm use or heating.
We have two MF2244 Hesston Balers and 3 MF2290 Hesston Balers, baling high density 4 x 4 x 8 Bales, weighing in at around 620 kg per bale.
We have three Heath Super Chaser Extras, collecting 12 bales at a time and either stacking in the field or transporting to sheds/stacks. They leave very little impaction.
We run a Volvo wagon and drag to transport the straw to customers.
We buy straw in the swathe, bale, chase and clear fields, with very little impaction to ground.
